Development project funding awarded to BGC Nordic Oy

BGC Nordic Oy has been awarded development project funding by the Centre for Economic Development, Transport and the Environment. The project’s working title is ‘Self-sufficient carbon-neutral farm’.
The project promotes energy efficiency and the circular economy, as well as reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
The project is developing equipment suitable for farms and other producers of organic waste for the production of gas, electricity and biomethane. The pricing structure of the equipment being developed enables profitable operation even on a smaller scale than is currently standard, starting with small and medium-sized farms.
Products to be developed:
- A new type of slurry reactor capable of multiplying raw gas production compared to conventional fully-mixed slurry reactors currently on the market, on a per-unit-volume basis
- A prototype of a CHP plant production model is being built to utilise the raw gas produced – for electricity generation
- The project involves the design and testing of a simplified gas processing plant for biomethane production. The processing plant enables profitable investment in biogas plants at sites that do not have their own energy consumption
The aim of the project is to accelerate the green transition and increase the use of biomass in biogas production.
